This bedroom belongs to a client who has a busy, often stressful life, working full time and caring for relatives in poor health.  She wanted her bedroom completely redesigned, and she wanted it to be a serene, feminine retreat where she could watch television or read in peace.

The first thing we did was add crown moulding.  The house is Federal style, but the builder didn’t put crown moulding in any of the upstairs rooms, and that left the rooms looking as though they might be in an apartment instead of a nice home. 

Next we had the walls papered in an airy-looking toile.  The new window treatments have black-out lining so my client can sleep in when she has the time. We replaced her existing furniture with more graceful, traditional furniture, and added a chaise lounge, a bookcase next to it, and an armoire for the TV.
